The 1950’s are considered by many a golden age for the United States. It is during this time that Moses was a PI. He was not living the American Dream as so many were. He chose to live on the fringe because he liked it there.
Moses is based on my Uncle and his real name is not Moses Stern. He changed his name after his parents passed away because he never cared for it.
Some of these cases are from stories he told me and others are gleamed from the records he kept from that time.
I hadn’t seen my uncle for about twenty five years as he seemed to drop out of site and made an effort not to stay in touch with the family. I had heard from someone that he was living in the same state as I and when I tried to track him down, using his new name, I found that he was living in the same town.
Moe and I share the same birthday and we also share many of the same views about life. I was thrilled to be reunited with him and even more thrilled when he began to share some of his experiences with me.
Moe lived in a time that I don’t remember as I was born in 1959, but from his files and the investigating that I have done since then I found that the “Golden age” was more tarnished then I once thought.
